DotA all star

Defense of the Ancients or more commonly known as DotA has been one of the most played game in cebu. Since in this game you can play it either through LAN connection (internet café) or connect and play with millions of gamers online via GARENA (Game Arena) or other online game network.

Even before DotA was created, I have always been a big fan of the WARCARFT series and have played all of their games from warcraft: Orcs and Humans until Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos. Even before, i would make sure to come home early from school, finish all my homework and then play until the curfew which is 10pm. On the weekends its morning until I fall asleep, that’s how addictive the game is.

Now that they created a new game basing form the Warcraft series were your main objective is to destroy you opponent’s camp and having to manage only your Heroes is quite amazing. You don’t need to hire more wisps to harvest gold and lumber to train your unit. Since in this game, your camp will automatically generate its unit and is program to attack the other camp at certain intervals. So your main focus in really solely on your hero. How cool is that.

Out of the 97 Heroes in DotA, like all the gamers I have my favorite characters. These are;

  • Traxex the Drow Ranger – Agility base hero
  • Alleria Windrunner – intelligence base Hero

Yes! I have notice that I am very fond of medium to long range type heroes and both of them are archer.

They also added two new heroes:

Murloc NightCrawler (Agility Hero)
Ancient Apparition (intelligence Hero)

Since this is really a big hit locally and even in the international gaming scene, if you ever get a chance to use GARENA you will see that there are players logged on from almost all 4 continents in the world.

The creators are continuously asking for feedbacks or bugs so that they can fix it, after a significant improvement has been made they then release a new version of the Game. Right now the latest version that is being released from the official creator (www.getdota.com) is Version 6.66b.

To check on the changes made from version 6.65 to 6.66 click here (change logs)

Its pays to really read and check the label of your heroes! If you’ve tried playing at Gols or any local internet café then you would know that the players there are ruthless and are in the middle to expert category. So best be prepared, TRUST me.. when i say they are ruthless! :)

Addicted to Tekken 6

Yes! That is correct I now officially addicted to Tekken 6. I have always been a video game enthusiast way back when the only game console available was the family computer until it has evolved into PC online RPG then to LAN base game such as DOTA until PSP etc.  I guess the inner kid in me never grew up (Peter pan syndrome much?). Although some men never acknowledge this fact they'll simply say  “it's a Guy thing” or “Men and their toys” (Yeah right!).

Last Sunday while we were waiting for the LFS of Dear John, I got curious on the newest tekken version which is Tekken 6 (in Time zone AYALA CEBU). So we decided to play while waiting for 9:25 pm to strike.

All i can say is that the games graphics is way better than Tekken 5: Dark resurrection (I mean WAY WAY BETTER) and they added a couple of new characters in the game.

You can check out the new characters bio at http://tekken.namco.com/characters/

What I like most this latest installment is that you can do non-stop combos and actually rendering your opponent helpless until you get to defeat him. K.O!

Tart decided to use DEVIL JIN and I seem to favor either ALISA or LILI. Well I got my ass whooped by tart, He defeated me in every single battle we have and he only uses one Character DEVIL JIN.

his character(devil jin)  however shoots a laser like power from his forehead and if you get hit takes a large chuck of you life. But in all fairness to tart, he did not just rely on the laser but also uses different kinds of combo.

But that won’t happen next time! I’ll make sure that I will be the winner.
Practice makes perfect!

Waste to Energy by N-Viro

Today's Technologies - Tomorrow's Solutions

~N-Viro International

As I was driving March (the name i gave my car) to the city, I passed by an area near our town and I saw this Pool of water. from the looks of it, I would  say it was an organic waste products from a nearby factory. The smell was unpleasant and I think we all can relate to such scene especially to those who are living in the urban/metropolitan area.

The said factory and the city would have to spend quite a hefty amount in terms of cleaning and disposing the said organic waste properly making sure that it will not contaminate any water source and I tell you this don’t come cheap. Since most of the world economy is in recession, we need to look for ways to hit two birds with one stone; that means Clean and at the same time recycle (Just like what Mother Nature intended)

I came across a company called N-Viro international. This company specializes in using lime and/or mineral-rich, combustion byproducts to treat, pasteurize, immobilize and convert wastewater sludge and other bio-organic wastes into biomineral agricultural and soil-enrichment products with real market value; in short it converts waste to energy.

here are some of the by products being produced;

·          Fertilizer (N-Viro Soil) for agricultural purposes, which the city can use to sell to or give to the local farmers.
·          Fuel (N-Viro Fuel) which is a cleaner and affordable alternative to coal for energy can also be called a Clean Coal.

Company Website: http://www.nviro.com

Being part of the Group I love the OCEAN and an Environmentalist (at heart); I am very much familiar with the harmful effects in using coal and Oil. I think it is high time that we switch to a cleaner and abundant fuel and energy source or what we call  Renewable energy (energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat) and start using Opportunity fuels (are typically unconventional and usually derived from some sort of waste or byproduct) which are available to all if only we start patronizing it.

It's never too late to change and start making a difference!

KOPI ROTI experience

I Love coffee… it’s very evident in my blog and even in my status in Facebook. I have always loved its aroma and the natural high I feel, sip after sip.  I just couldn’t get enough! everyday when I get to work I always start my day with a cup of coffee.

Yesterday, Tart brought me to the Gallery in Mabolo CEBU and introduced me to KOPI ROTI. A coffee blend that was new yet at the same time familiar to my taste buds. I took the liberty of checking their concepts and what coffee they use.

Kopi Roti as the name suggests, is an exciting new concept in the art of enjoying coffee blended to perfection.

The Kopi Roti concept began in Singapore many years ago when Kopi Tiams - the Malay word for coffee shop - started catering to a very demanding clientele, locals who knew how coffee should be blended the Asian way and who demanded nothing but the best at a reasonable cost.

No wonder the taste was so familiar, since the coffee they serve is more on ASIAN BLENDS. It reminded me of our traditional “SIKWATE”, this is a local Cebuano drink served hot made from freshly grind Cacao seeds.
Since history did tell us that Philippines have had trade relations with our neighboring Asian countries even before Spain colonized us. I wouldn’t be surprise that cacao trees/ seeds or even the finished product was traded.

We went there around 11:30 pm, the ambiance of the place was great for me who wants to sip my coffee silently and have an EMO moment. So that’s what we did we talked a little but we just enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the place.

Well one minor thing though Kopi Roti closes at around 12mn, probably because the stores and restaurant in the gallery is close at that time. But you can stay as long as you like and the place is safe since there are security guards at the place. But still it would have been better if they close at around 2am at least you can still order another round of their nostalgic coffee.

EAT PRAY LOVE

Eat Pray Love is based on the book Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia is a 2006 memoir by American author and memoirist Elizabeth Gilbert.

I just found out the COLUMBIA Pictures purchased  the movie rights and JULIA ROBERTS one of my all time favorite actress Is playing Gilbert the main character of the film.

This film is said to be released SUMMER of 2010.

Basing from the trailer I say we all can relate to this film... one way or another.

EAT PRAY LOVE has had many great reviews from the New York Times to Oprah Winfrey who devoted 2 episodes of her show to this book.

I know and believe that JULIA ROBERTS can exceed our expectations… I just know..

here is the official movie trailer...

The Worlds Smallest Handgun

This is probably the most useful Gift you can give to your Daughter on their 18th Birthday. It’s Hip, Cheek and it really carries a PUNCH … Way better than a Pepper Spray!

What do you know! It comes with a very elegant case… How cool is that

I have always been a believer of Peace; but there comes a time that you really need to defend yourself from bad people, hopefully that will not happen to us but if it does at least you came prepared.
Don’t mistake this as my personal vendetta on PRO GUN movement, it is not.
I just think that gun's or any GUN POWDER base weapon should only be used for self defense and nothing else.

a Late Christmas Gift

Christmas came a 3 months late for me, since I just got what I wanted for my birthday and Christmas this month(March) specifically last Sunday. The Care package that my sis sent us came very very late! I guess maybe it’s because of the holiday rush last December but I have a feeling the size of the box mattered as well why we received it a little late.

I received 4 shoes from her; two of which I specifically requested.
Which are the Converse basic black leather finish sneakers and the other one is a Gray colored sneaker.
Since I wasn’t able to see any of these specific sneakers when they held their GREAT CONVERSE SALE last December.

One thing i love is that she is very much updated with the current fashion trends, i don't know if i mention it to her during our online chat that top-sider are making a comeback this year.

***

All in all I have around 6 pair of sneakers of different color, style and brand. Some are converse the others are Nike and I resent the fact that they say that having this much sneakers is already an addiction or an obsession, I would prefer to call it PASSION.

***

To My Dear sister DARLENE PAL

Thank you so much for the Shoes!
Love love love it!

Books over Beer

After I watched Alice in wonderland last weekend and after it woke up my inner child.
We had quick bite to eat and strolled around the terraces and just talked
A completely different Saturday Night experience for me..

Since the beginning of time, my Saturday nights are always spent having fun, dancing and drinking the night away. Sundays are spent nursing the hang over and complaining how time flies and we have to work tomorrow since its going to Monday.

Now I just want to stay at home, read a book or a DVD marathon (Home buddy!)

So we went into fully booked Ayala center and see if either of my anticipated book is already available.

To my surprise, neither one was available and as per their Customer Service. It might be available in 2months. In 2 months! Yikes! So we roamed around and check what they have to offer and decided to have a little fun…

Thundercats The Movie

Thundercats…....
Does that name ring any bells? Well it should. It was one of the most famous Cartoon’s During the 80’s and even on the early 90’s.   I grew up loving them and Hating MUMM-RA (Yes! the demonic, mummified sorcerer/Antagonist and his minions) basically it’s a science fiction and fantasy rolled into the traditional good-versus-evil tale.

You can check out Plot here

I just heard very “Crazy” news that they are going to turn THUNDERCATS into a movie. Then I though It might be possible but I was seriously having doubts since I heard the news in Facebook

So I took the liberty of checking online via my best friend GOOGLE; it turns out that the movie is now in production and is being financed by Warner Brothers and is set to be release either this year (2010) or summer 2012.

Still a little blurry on the details, I guess since they will be using CGI technology; although i am not familiar with how it works but i guess its going to take sometime with the concept plus the production plans and all that jazz..

let's just wait and see if this movie will push through, like what they say about movies in production "nothing is sure until the company itself will release the official trailer" :)

but i am still so excited about this movie! It’s going to be one of my MUST WATCH at ALL COST movie.
i am even following them on twitter (http://twitter.com/tcats)

Love Letter | Please Don't ask me

If I would be asked for a wish,
I wish to wake up everyday
to the sound of someone’s breath on my neck,
the warmth of the body next to mine,
the touch of the hands on my skin,
and the feeling of the heart, beating with mine.
Knowing that I could never find that feeling,
to someone I am not dreaming.

If there’s anyone with a gentle word,
Who speaks with sweet honesty and truth..
Like a spark of light that illuminates my soul,
A devotion that can even make the angry waves still,
Or a caring heart that keeps me out of the rain,
With the LOVE as the ultimate roof,
And the reason to complete me as a whole,
Then you might be the one that I been waiting for…

I want to be with someone very special,
the one I can always lean on and depend,
to be there through the years, sharing laughter and tears,
as a partner, a lover, a buddy, a friend,
whatever words you used to comprehend.
I've learned the full meaning of sharing and caring
and having dreams all come true and fulfilling;
Please don't ask me if I know how to LOVE
Because I've learned to be in love and be loved...

A very good friend of mine created this Love Letter for a very special someone in his life right now.

Tim Burton’s ALICE in Wonderland

I was very satisfied with his work; He made Lewis Carroll (The author) proud!
The funny thing it wasn’t really the Alice in Wonderland we grew up with, but more on a combination between both books by Lewis Carroll; Alice in Wonderland and its sequel Through the looking-Glass.

Both books were mixed, mashed, tossed to create this Successful movie.

You can read the full plot of the movie here, but I would prefer you actually watch it at the movie house. This is the type of movie you want to see on the silver screen not on a DVD.

All through out the movie, I was pretty amaze on the make up magic they had done with John Depp (The Mad Hatter) and Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen). Such masterpiece really deserves Applause!

John Depp (The Mad Hatter)

Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen)

That is why it’s no surprise that the movie ranked number one in the 3D record basing on the estimated Sales over the week (Friday to Sunday) on US and CANADIAN Theater.
Full Story here

Over all, I did not regret watching it on the big screen; it was worth the effort and every penny i spent including for POP CORN and Large Ice tea from Taters (which I think has the best Sour Cream and Mexican Barbecue flavored popcorn in CEBU).

Maybe because it woke up the inner child in me, I have always liked Fairy tale stories and i doubt i was able to contain myself during the entire movie. I remember tart telling me that i was too excited and that i was smiling through the entire movie and did not pay attention to what he was saying.

I said effort since I conveniently forgot my SureSeat password; since I want to get the best seats in the house. I had to call up the theater to ask if a reservation is possible and Thank GOD since AYALA center’s Theater system is fully automated, so you can buy tickets days ahead! (I LOVE IT!) So during my Break, I have to walk all the way to AYALA CENTER CEBU to buy the ticket! Some people might think that’s just normal well for me it was a whole lot of effort for a movie.

But like what i said But, It was all worth it! :)

Green Tea Frappuccino | Summer's Cold Treat

“Green Tea Frap Please.. Venti size and NO Whip Cream….”
..And OH makes sure to use Skim Milk...”

During the weekends, it has always been a tradition between me and tart to hang out at any coffee shop and talk. It’s more really of a ritual in way. I have always been a Cappuccino Lover all my life and I recently fell in love with the macchiato.. Thanks to Tart.

But recently, The Heat has been really awful!
The hottest day of the year happened last February 24, 200 at 1:50 PM that is 34.5 Degrees.

WOW EL Niño Much?

And we have not officially started summer yet, it’s bound to get hotter by April or May.

With that in mind, I temporarily ended my love affair with a Steaming Hot Cappuccino and switched to a Healthy Cold Treat offered by Starbucks the  Green Tea Frap.

Since you get all the healthy benefits of Green Tea..

“Green Tea Frap Please.. Venti size and NO Whip Cream….”

Why You're Not Getting Laid

I was again tagged by one of my friends with this on Facebook.
Now, I have to admit some of these are reasons why i didn’t sleep with someone.
Probably because these are a Major MAJOR Turn off in a date..

Would you like to sleep with a person who smells bad (2%), Bad Hygiene or is full of HOT AIR?

I didn't think so! :)

So this is not to lower down your self esteem guys.. But to remind you that these are indeed some of the reasons why the DATE ended with a handshake and not a BED SHAKE…

So.. Wise up!
