NILAMAW | AVOCADO SUMMER TREAT

Summer has just officially ended! (as per PAGASA)
Since school has just started (for some it will be next week).
So say goodbye to those long hours of gimmick and beach parties and say hello to books, assignments and projects.

Well for me since I graduated 5 years ago, the end of summer usually means colder weather!
Well, I couldn’t be more wrong. It is still pretty hot and humid here in the queen city of the south (CEBU).
Not to mention the annoying rotating brownouts in the city! (Arrrrggg)

In order to beat the summer heat, aside from hitting the nearest starbucks and grabbing a green tea frap.
Since the fruit of the season is AVOCADO, tart decide to make a cold AVOCADO treat to help beat the summer heat.

I am really not quite sure what the literal English translation is but in Cebu we call it LAMAW or NILAMAW

It’s actually very refreshing and tasty at the same time.

The recipe is very simple, you just need Condense Milk, sugar and of course your RIPE avocado (make sure it’s ripe since avocado is quite bitter when it’s not yet ripe) and just mix all of it.

There are two ways to do it! You can add ice on it that’s the regular way to do it and the other is you put the avocado in the freezer then when about to be frozen you take it out, add milk and sugar and mix well. It actually tastes and feels like avocado ice-cream.

Enjoy!

ILOILO'S BATCHOY

Iloilo’s batchoy is said to be the best since basically it originated there.
So when tart and I planned to have a vacation, we decided to take the scenic route to Boracay that is via ILOILO.  When tart ask me if I wanted to try something in  ILOILO the first thing that came into my mind was BATCHOY!

He took me to Ted’s old time La Paz Batchoy, and we ordered the super special batchoy.
It was definitely a feast for my taste buds; it was both yummy at the same time very tasty.
And they are very generous in their ingredients, since I feel that they placed more meat than noodles.

If ever you found yourself in ILOILO, you should definitely try their Batchoy!

30’s Restaurant and Café: French Toast

What comes into your mind when we say French toast?
Me, it is the same as the other people... they say French toast I say breakfast.

But in 30’s Restaurant and Café here in Cebu, French toast is served all day not just a breakfast meal but as a Yummy Dessert as well..

So far, 30’s Restaurant and Café French toast has the yummiest and most sought after French toast in Cebu.

30’s Restaurant and Café is actually just a very simple and cozy restaurant located in Banilad Cebu in front of Paradise Village.
They serve a wide variety of food from steak to pasta to Panini at a very affordable price.

Balut experience

One ohhh so boring night while tart and I were smoking outside the office. A Balut vendor passed by us and we decide to give it a try.

Balut is a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg that is boiled and eaten in the shell.

Now I know that as much as possible we have to avoid eating this delicacy of ours since it is high on bad cholesterol Emphasis on the “BAD”

But hey the last time I was able to eat a Balut was 4-5 years ago since I saw my dad eat it and the duck was almost fully formed (Goosebumps). So this time, I let tart ate the duck part I just stick to the yummy yellow!

I forgot how tasty balut it actually is… Best eaten with salt and spicy vinegar!

HSBC Thank you! for the GC

Today I just got another Mail from HSBC.
I was a little hesitant at first it could be another mail reminding me about my charges.
I soooo don’t want to ruin my day…
Anyways since it was addressed to me, I opened it anyways at the same time saying a silent prayer asking

“I hope this is a mail were in they tell me a Young handsome millionaire (Who has a lot of money to spare) just paid off my debt. In a random act of kindness” like in the movies.

Well too bad it wasn’t! Shucks!

But it was still a GOOD NEWS!
HSBC has just given me 2 KFC GC for a free chicken meal (Wow! Free Lunch!)

It seems that they were tracking my transaction for the whole month of January..
Since January was also the time i promised myself to spend wisely (Project: Save for a rainy Day)
my transaction was low! they should have tracked my December Purchases i bet ill have a dozen of these.

Well…
It might not be what I asked for but it sure beats getting a Reminder Mail.

So… anyways!

Thank you HSBC
